They Danced on My Grave, But My Diary Wrote My Revenge

They Danced on My Grave, But My Diary Wrote My Revenge

At the peak of my fame, I died in a dingy rental apartment.
It took them seven days to find my body.
No fans, no memorial service.
Just a unanimous chorus of Good riddance! online.
My own parents and my fianc? threw a party, complete with fireworks, to celebrate the fact that I, the bad seed, had finally been reaped by fate.
Wrapped in a cheap plastic bag, all evidence of my existence was turned to ash.
It wasn't until a new tenant moved in that the secret I'd buried in a corner was finally unearthed.
And with it, the truth of the injustice I'd endured for so many years was finally dragged into the light.
"Hey everyone, it's your girl Rosie, and today I'm moving into a new place!"
"I heard a huge celebrity used to live here!"
"Come on, I'll give you a tour."
Rosie held up her phone, panning the camera across the shabby apartment.
"Uh, Rosie, you sure a superstar lived here?" a comment popped up in the live chat.
"Yeah, for real. What kind of A-lister lives in a dump like this?"
The live chat was flooded with doubt.
For a moment, confusion flickered across Rosie's face.
But she didn't say anything, instead carrying the camera into the bedroom.
"Let's check out the bedroom first, see if the vibe matches mine."
The window in the desolate room was open, and a white curtain billowed in the wind, lifting the edge of the heavy, drooping bedsheet.
The withered flowers on the windowsill rustled, a dry, lonely sound in the silent room.
"Wait, I think there's something under the bed& "
Rosie set her phone aside and strained to pull out a dusty old box.

With a soft click, a yellowed notebook came into view.
"Guys, look! It's an old notebook!"
"Maybe it's some kind of treasure left behind by the previous tenant!"
Rosie opened it. My elegant handwriting filled the first page.
Coralie Vaughn.
"Whoa! Isn't that the actress who just died a few days ago?"
"I think so! The one with all the scandals, who supposedly broke her stepsister Sabrina's legs to steal her spot! And her boyfriend!"
"That's nothing! I heard Coralie Vaughn slept her way to the top!"
"They say she was a mess in school, too. Bullied classmates, extorted money like a common thug! The people she terrorized probably still have nightmares!"
"Rosie, sweetie, you should move out. A place where someone like Coralie Vaughn lived has got to be cursed."
The live chat was a waterfall of my alleged sins.
In an instant, Rosie's livestream shot up the trending charts, hitting over 100,000 viewers.
It seemed I was more famous in death than I ever was in life.
In a lavishly decorated living room, a young man paced, his face etched with worry.
"Mr. Stratton, Coralie Vaughn's name is trending!"
"Someone moved into her old rental and is livestreaming from there right now!"
As the assistant's voice rang out, the festive atmosphere in the grand hall instantly soured.
"That bitch Coralie," my mother sneered. "Dead and still desperate for the spotlight."
"Ruins the appetite. All this good food, and she has to spoil the mood," my father added, his brow furrowed in disgust.
Seeing their reaction, Sabrina Vaughn, my stepsister, gently consoled them.
"Dad, Mom, my sister didn't mean it! Please don't be so angry."
"Let's just eat first, we can talk about it later."

Kian Stratton, my former fianc?, understood what my parents were implying. He stood up immediately.
"I'll go handle this right now."
"No need!" my father barked. "I want to see what kind of trouble she can stir up from beyond the grave!"
"Put the livestream on the television!"
A moment later, Rosie's voice filled the room.
"Guys, it looks like some kind of diary!"
"Maybe we shouldn't& this feels wrong& "
Rosie s face was a mask of hesitation.
This was my privacy, after all. She couldn't just display it without my consent.
"Don't worry, Rosie. She's just a disgraced celebrity. What's there to be afraid of?"
"Yeah, she's dead. Who cares about her privacy now?"
"Coralie Vaughn always wanted to be famous. Let's do her a favor and make her famous one last time!"
Rosie glanced at the comments, then at the soaring viewer count. Her heart sank, but she decided to take the gamble.
"September, 2021.
I ran into Kian Stratton, the boy I d had a crush on all through high school.
He stood out in the crowd, a beacon of light, and I knew I was falling for him all over again.
But this time, by some miracle, our paths finally crossed.
The freshman welcome gala was running short on time, so my performance and Kian's were combined.
His voice, a magnetic hum, wrapped around me as I danced under the spotlight.
We were an overnight sensation.
He became the campus king, and I, the campus queen.
I had finally reached a place where I felt I could stand beside him. And he had finally noticed me."

Hearing Rosie read those words, Kian's tense expression softened, his thoughts drifting back to college.
That was the first time I had truly stunned him.
A girl, shining on stage, pouring her heart into her passion.
Kian couldn't help but feel his own heart stir.
Beside him, Sabrina noticed the shift in his expression and spoke in a soft, wounded voice.
"Kian, darling, I never knew your story with my sister was so& romantic."
"She was always so lucky."
"Not like me. I was always so alone, without any special talents& "
Sabrina s words pulled Kian back to the present. His face instantly hardened.
"Sabrina, you're pure and innocent. A schemer like Coralie could never compare to you."
"Besides, if it weren't for her, you would have been the one on that stage."
Kian's reassurance brought a smile to Sabrina's face, and she snuggled into his arms.
"Thank you, Kian."
My parents watched the two of them, their faces beaming with approval.
"Thank God that little bitch Coralie is dead! Otherwise, she'd be throwing another one of her tantrums right now!"
While they basked in their perfect family moment, Rosie turned to the next page of the diary.
"December, 2021.
Kian came to see me today!
He asked me to be his partner for the New Year's Eve gala.
I would never pass up a chance to be close to him.
After the show, he took me out to dinner. We were getting closer."

"February, 2022.
The new year began with Kian asking me out for dinner and a movie. He even bought me a bouquet of roses&
Does he have feelings for me, too?"
"June 21st, 2022. The summer solstice.
This is the happiest day of my life! The longest day of the year.
Kian and I are together!
I hope our love can be as bright and long as this day."
The entry was short, but Rosie could feel the pure joy radiating from the words.
My bold, confident handwriting filled the screen.
"Is this Coralie person delusional? Everyone knows Kian and her sister Sabrina were childhood sweethearts. What does she have to do with it?"
"Right! I remember Coralie faked a bunch of photos to make it look like they were dating, just to leech off his fame!"
"Seriously, why couldn't she just be a normal person instead of trying to steal her own sister's man?"
"It's obvious, isn't it? Her sister Sabrina was just too perfect, and she was pathologically jealous."
A torrent of vicious comments flooded Rosie's livestream.
"Okay, let's just keep reading," Rosie said, trying to steer the conversation.
"This next entry is from a long time after the last one."
"December, 2022.
Dear Diary, I ve neglected you lately!
Ever since Kian and I got together, I ve spent most of my time with him.
I remember every little thing he does for me.
He always asks if I m tired, always remembers what I like.

We are so, so happy.
Sometimes, I really feel like I don't deserve him.
But he always comforts me, telling me to be more confident, that I'm wonderful too.
Oh, Diary!
How did I get so lucky, to find someone as amazing as Kian?"
As Rosie read, a smile unconsciously spread across her face.
The diary could only hold so much, but even she could feel my happiness and delight.
"Reading this, Coralie doesn't sound that calculating... you guys think she and Kian were actually a real thing?"
"It's possible! But I'm not buying the 'not calculating' part for a second!"
"Wake up, you idiots. This diary was probably planted by Coralie herself to try and clear her name after she died!"
Hearing Rosie's voice, Kian's mind was flooded with images of my bright, lovely smile.
Once upon a time, I really had been that vibrant and happy.
And he really had loved me.
When did it all change?
It was the moment he met Sabrina.
"February, 2023.
Sabrina graduated and came back from overseas.
She begged to meet her brother-in-law, so I introduced her to Kian.
The subject she studied abroad could be a huge help to Kian's singing career.
He s currently trying out for a reality TV talent show, and his work is just missing that final spark.
Maybe Sabrina can help him."

"April, 2023.
Kian passed his audition!
After that day, he packed his bags and went into closed-door training.
No phone. The only way I could know how he was doing was through news on the screen.
A few days after Kian left, Sabrina suddenly showed up.
She had signed me up for a dance competition show called 'Starlight Stage.'
I wanted to refuse, but then I thought about Kian's future career, and I accepted her 'kindness.'"
"June, 2023.
After round after round of selections, I finally made it onto 'Starlight Stage.'
On the first day of filming, I saw Sabrina.
She was expertly chatting with the other contestants, and she made a point of introducing me to everyone.
With Sabrina around, my days on the show weren't so difficult.
My fundamentals were solid, and my ranking was quite good.
But even so, not a single contestant was willing to partner with me!
I just didn't understand why.
Later, seeing me so isolated, Sabrina offered to be my partner.
Sisters, taking the stage together. Our light shone brighter than ever.
Kian, I m catching up to you!"
"June 30th, 2023.
We d been filming for over half a month and finally got a day off.
I eagerly grabbed my phone, wanting to share my excitement with Kian, but his line was busy every time I called.

Maybe&
Maybe he was just busy.
But then I turned around and heard Kian's voice talking to Sabrina.
His voice, so gentle and concerned, echoed in my ears.
When did they get so close?
The moment I pushed open the door, Sabrina jumped, startled.
But there was no guilt in her eyes. Instead, she started flirting with Kian right in front of me.
'Don't worry, Kian. I'll definitely do my best!' she cooed into the phone.
And Kian, on the other end, sounded so pleased.
'Good girl. When you win the championship, I'll give you a big reward.'
Hearing his doting tone, I couldn't stop myself. I lunged forward and snatched the phone from Sabrina's hand.
But before I could say a word, Kian hung up.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my chest.
It hurt so much.
What was happening?
I wanted to confront Sabrina, but she just told me not to drag her down.
I know I shouldn't have doubted them so easily, but once the evil thought took root, it consumed me.
It affected me so much that my dance practice grew sloppy.
On the day of the semi-finals, Sabrina attempted a high-difficulty move without telling me.
I was completely unprepared. I reached for her, trying to catch her.
But she still crashed hard onto the stage.

Streams of blood poured from her leg, instantly staining the stage red.
I don't know how I ended up at the hospital.
For the first time, time felt agonizingly slow. The blinding image of the fall was seared into my mind.
'You bitch!'
I heard the furious, piercing scream, and then my throat tightened. The air was being squeezed out of my lungs.
In that moment, I thought I was going to die.
But I hadn't seen Kian yet.
I couldn't die like this!
I struggled desperately, but it was useless.
The hands around my neck tightened, and my world started to go dark.
Dimly, I thought I saw Kian's face.
'Coralie, how could you be so cruel! How could you do this to Sabrina!'
Kian's voice reached my ears, and the hands on my neck finally loosened.
As air rushed back into my lungs, I gasped, my vision clearing.
But in that moment, I wished I had died.
The one choking me was my father. The one condemning me was Kian.
The two men I loved most in this world wanted me dead.
Dear Diary, every time I remember that day, the feeling of suffocation comes back.
I didn't do anything. Why did they all believe I was the one who hurt Sabrina?
I wasn't!
I didn't do it!

I just wasn't prepared& "
The diary entry ended there. Rosie could feel the raw despair bleeding through the ink.
"July 5th, 2023.
Sabrina finally woke up.
I was desperate to prove my innocence. I grabbed her hand, begging her to explain to our parents and Kian.
She was the one who did the difficult move behind my back. It wasn't my fault! It wasn't!
But Sabrina just gave me a cold little smile.
She told me she did it all on purpose."
Hearing Rosie read this, Sabrina's face darkened.
"I couldn't believe it. The sister I had protected for so long had such a twisted, scheming heart.
In that moment, I finally broke.
I forgot how weak Sabrina was. I grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her violently.
My voice was a raw whisper as I demanded to know why she had to use such extreme measures.
She wasn't just hurting me; she was hurting herself!
But I got no answer from Sabrina. Only a sharp slap across the face from our father.
Even Kian, the man I loved most, stared at me with pure hatred.
'Coralie, I am so disappointed in you.'
His words were like a thousand knives stabbing into my heart.
That's when I knew. Sabrina's plan had succeeded."
The diary entry stopped abruptly.
But the tear stains on the page were starkly visible on the screen.
