Ruined My Ex, Married Billionaire
Kai ran my Maybach over my legs and crushed my bones.
He said I killed his first love, so I should taste what it feels like to have my bones shattered too.
I'd supported him for ten years. Loved him for ten years.
But he used my money to keep his woman, and in the end, he used my car to take my life.
It hurt. So much. But I didn't cry. I just thought: if there's a next life, I'll kill these two bastards first.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back in that hotel room. Kai stood there, disheveled, staring at me with disgust. "Lena, you actually drugged me?"
Outside the door stood his "first love" Serena, holding hangover medicine.
I smiled.
I grabbed her, shoved her into the room, and locked the door.
"True love, right? This gift is all yours."
Screams and gasps came from behind the door. I leaned against it, slowly smoothing down my skirt.
The next morning, I brought thirty reporters to "catch them in the act."
Kai, in this life, I'll make you live in hell. Every single day.
Lena POV
When Kai ran the black Maybach I'd given him over my legs and crushed my bones, his expression was calm.
Like he was disposing of a bag of trash.
He even took the time to adjust his rearview mirror, just so he could watch my face twist in agony.
"Lena, does it hurt?"
"When Serena died, it hurt ten thousand times more than this."
His voice drifted through the car window, low and smooth, yet dripping with poison.
"If you hadn't drugged me and forced me, how could she have misunderstood and run out and gotten hit? You destroyed her. And you destroyed me."
"You should taste what it feels like to have your bones crushed. Inch by inch."
Reverse. Shift. Accelerate.
He ran over me again.
I heard my ribs cave in, like crushing an aluminum can.
It really hurt.
I'd supported him for ten years. Loved him for ten years.
For him, I even pushed my father to hand the company over to him.
And what did I get?
He used the Lancaster family's money to keep his first love.
When his first love had an accident, he blamed all his hatred on me and wanted to use my life as an offering.
In that moment, I didn't cry.
I only thought that if there was a next life, I would kill these two bastards first.
Then came the excruciating pain. After it, a strange burning heat. I opened my eyes again.
Before me wasn't the blood-stained wheel, but the warm amber wall lights of a hotel room.
Kai was pulling at his collar, his face flushed red, veins bulging at his temples, yet his eyes looked at me with utter disgust.
"Lena... you actually drugged me?"
"Get out!"
"Don't touch me! I feel sick just looking at you!"
An extremely familiar opening.
In my last life, seeing him uncomfortable broke my heart. I cried and explained it wasn't me, then threw myself at him desperately to help him.
It became evidence for his bone-deep hatred of me later.
But now, watching Kai with that conflicted look-wanting it but pretending to be noble-I laughed.
"Fine."
I agreed decisively and turned to leave.
Kai froze.
His labored breathing paused for a moment, as if he hadn't expected me to leave so decisively.
"You... where are you going? Lena, you dare to leave? I don't want to see you, but if you leave, who's responsible?!"
He roared behind me, his logic chaotic and laughable.
This was Kai.
His arrogance made him think I would turn back like a dog, even after he told me to get out.
I gripped the door handle, a cruel smile forming on my lips.
"Kai, weren't you the one who told me to get out? I'm fulfilling your noble intentions."
I opened the door. Outside stood someone.
Serena.
She wore a simple white silk dress, her long hair flowing, her expression cold, holding a bag of hangover medicine.
She was the goddess of Kai's heart.
She always had that aloof look, but actually, whenever Kai had any problem, she ran faster than anyone.
In my last life, it was at this moment that she rushed in and "discovered" our "betrayal," then ran out crying to her death.
This time, her timing was perfect.
"Miss Lancaster."
Serena frowned slightly, a barely detectable contempt and scrutiny in her eyes.
"Is Kai inside? I heard his voice."
"He is."
I stepped aside, revealing Kai inside who was roaring and hitting the wall.
"He's been given a strong drug. Right now he's a powder keg ready to explode."
Serena startled, then a gleam flashed in her eyes.
She thought I was showing weakness and immediately put on an act.
"Miss Lancaster, since Kai doesn't like you, you shouldn't use these methods to entangle him. I'll go check on him."
With that, she moved to go inside.
"Wait."
I stopped her.
Serena turned back, her face guarded.
"What do you want?"
"Nothing much."
I reached out and grabbed her slender wrist. Under her horrified gaze, I shoved her into the room.
"Since you two are true love, here's a little 'gift.'"
"Enjoy yourselves."
I slammed the door shut, locked it, and pulled out the keycard.
Smooth. One fluid motion.
Through the thick door, I heard Serena's panicked scream.
"Lena! Are you crazy! Kai... don't come closer!"
The screams quickly turned to whimpers, then faded into heavy breathing.
I leaned against the door, slowly smoothing down my skirt.
Kai. Serena.
This time, I've welded the door shut.
Let's see how you use "missed chances" and "misunderstandings" to disgust me now.
Lena POV
I didn't leave.
I checked into the room next door. And kindly arranged room service for them. To be delivered tomorrow morning.
Sitting on the sofa, I called my father.
"Lena?"
My father's voice sounded somewhat tired.
"It's so late. Did Kai make you angry again? I'll have someone cancel his cards right now!"
Hearing that long-missed voice, my eyes grew hot.
In my last life, my father lowered himself so much for me, even begging Kai to treat me well.
In the end, Kai orchestrated his death in a "construction accident," and we never even found his remains.
I took a deep breath.
"Dad, I've figured it out."
"What?"
"Kai isn't suitable to be my husband, and he's even less suitable to be the company's successor."
I looked at the dark night outside the window, my tone calm.
"I want to withdraw funding. Stop all of Kai's projects. Also, compile evidence of his embezzlement. I need to use it."
Silence on the other end for a full ten seconds.
Then came ecstatic joy.
"Lena, are you serious? You've finally seen that bastard's true face?!"
"I have."
It was a lesson learned with my life.
"Dad, this time I'll handle it myself. Don't interfere. Just watch."
After hanging up, I had the most peaceful sleep I'd had in ten years.
The next morning.
My alarm woke me.
My arranged "audience" had arrived.
I put on a bathrobe and opened the door.
The hallway was packed with people.
There was the hotel manager, several reporters who "just happened" to receive a tip, and even two of Kai's business rivals.
"Miss Lancaster, this... this is?"
The manager wiped cold sweat.
I pointed at the tightly shut door next door.
"My fianc drank too much last night. I heard Miss Serena went in to take care of him all night. A man and a woman alone-I'm not comfortable with it. I need everyone to witness this for me."
"Open the door."
The manager didn't dare disobey and opened it with trembling hands.
The door opened.
An indescribable scent rushed out.
On the bed, two bodies were tangled together, the blanket only half covering them.
Kai hadn't woken up, one arm possessively around the woman in his arms.
And Serena, who usually looked at people down her nose, was now covered in bruises and marks, curled up in his arms like a broken rag doll, sleeping soundly.
Camera flashes instantly blazed like daylight.
The clicking shutters sounded like a funeral procession for this tragic couple.
Kai was awakened by the bright light, frowning as he opened his eyes.
When he saw the scene before him, saw me standing at the door and the excited cameras behind me, his pupils instantly contracted to pinpoints.
"Lena?!"
He sat up abruptly. With this movement, Serena in his arms was also startled awake.
She opened her eyes groggily, letting out a sweet moan.
"Kai..."
The next second, she saw the crowd at the door.
That cold, proud face instantly turned pale as paper.
She screamed and grabbed the blanket to cover herself, trembling all over.
"Get out! All of you get out! Don't photograph me! I'm Serena! How dare you!"
Wasn't she the one who looked down on people who sold their bodies for fame and fortune?
Right now, in this wretched state, she should really take a good look at herself.
I leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, smiling sarcastically.
"Miss Serena, why are you screaming? Weren't you the one crying and begging to go in and take care of him last night?"
"Childhood sweethearts finally together. This is such a joyous occasion."
Kai stared at me with eyes that wanted to tear me to pieces.
He quickly reacted, grabbed a pillow to cover Serena's face, and growled through gritted teeth.
"Lena! You did this on purpose! You're taking revenge on me!"
"Revenge?"
I chuckled and walked in.
"Kai, you were the one who told me to get out last night. You were the one who held her in bed. What, now that you've had your fun, you're pulling up your pants and denying it?"
Lena POV
"Lena!"
Kai's voice cracked as he shouted, cold sweat dripping down his forehead in beads.
He knew better than anyone that once this footage got out, his carefully built image of the "devoted fianc" and "business prodigy" would come crashing down.
"Smash the cameras! Now!"
He ordered the reporters.
The reporters exchanged glances with each other. No one paid him any attention. Instead, they photographed even more enthusiastically.
Someone even shoved their lens at Serena's exposed shoulder, where there was an obvious bite mark.
"You two were quite passionate last night."
I clapped my hands and turned to the people behind me.
"Did you all get clear shots? I've even thought of the headline for you-'Lancaster Heir Caught with Cold Beauty in Night Tryst, Heiress Betrayed.'"
"This kind of explosive headline should dominate for three days, right?"
"Lena! I'll kill you!"
Kai's eyes turned bloodshot as he tried to rush off the bed and grab me.
But as soon as he moved, he realized he wasn't wearing clothes and awkwardly shrank back under the blanket.
That look of fury yet helplessness was truly spectacular.
I looked at him coldly, like looking at a dog.
"Kill me? As if you're worthy."
I pulled out a document from my bag and threw it in his face.
The sharp A4 paper sliced across his nose bridge, leaving a red mark.
"This is a termination letter. Kai, you've been fired from the company."
"And this is the marriage annulment statement."
"From today on, you're no longer with the company. You're just a faithless, worthless gigolo who climbed up by using a woman."
Kai froze.
He stared at the document, his hands trembling.
The only reason he could swagger around in business circles was because the Lancaster family backed him.
Without the Lancaster family, he was just a pretty boy with no money.
"You can't do this..."
His voice finally carried a trace of panic.
"Lena, last night was an accident! I was controlled by drugs! I only have you in my heart! You know that. Serena and I only have sibling feelings!"
"Siblings?"
I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
I pointed at Serena cowering in his arms.
"What kind of siblings roll around in bed like this? What, were you two researching human anatomy?"
Serena finally couldn't take it anymore.
She poked her head out, tears streaming down, putting on a victim's act.
"Miss Lancaster, do you have to be so harsh? Kai and I are pure soulmates. Last night... last night was to save him..."
"Save him?"
I interrupted her.
"How? Using your body as the antidote? Miss Serena is truly kind."
Laughter erupted around us.
Serena's face turned the color of liver. Her usual cold-and-proud mask shattered completely.
"Enough. Stop the act."
I didn't want to look at these two dogs anymore. I turned to leave.
"You have ten minutes to get dressed and get out. I'm checking out of this room. It's filthy."
At the door, I stopped and delivered one more blow.
"Oh, right, Kai. Remember to pay the room fee. Even though you live off me, you should at least have money for a hotel room, right? Don't make your precious lover foot the bill."
Lena POV
The scandal hit trending searches at lightning speed.
#MissLancasterDominantlyAnnulsEngagement
#ColdBeautyPersonaCollapses
#GigoloEatsHardSoftRice
When Kai burst into my office, I was having the legal department audit his accounts.
He didn't knock. Just kicked the door open.
His face was dark enough to drip water, his neck still bearing scratch marks, disgusting to look at.
"Lena, take down the trending searches immediately!"
He leaned on my desk, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Have you made enough of a scene? Is this what you wanted to see? How does ruining me benefit you?"
I sipped my coffee without even lifting an eyelid.
"Benefits?"
I put down my cup and looked up at him.
"The benefit is feeling cheerful and having a great appetite."
"You!"
Kai choked with anger. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress his fury and put on a look of deep affection.
"Lena, I know you're angry. But I did this for the company. That project is at a critical stage. If my reputation is ruined now, the company's stock price will drop too."
"For my sake, can you just endure it? Once this blows over, I'll definitely make it up to you."
Even now, he still thought I was that fool who obeyed his every word.
He still thought that with just a crook of his finger, I would forgive him for everything.
"Endure it?"
I laughed so hard tears almost came out.
"Kai, do you think you're the only man in the world?"
I stood up, walked around the desk, and approached him.
Without warning, I slapped him hard across the face.
Kai's head snapped to the side. He stared at me in disbelief.
"This one's for your shamelessness."
I backhanded him again.
"And this one's for treating people like fools."
Kai covered his face, his eyes instantly turning vicious.
"Lena! You dare hit me?!"
He raised his hand to strike back.
"You can try."
I looked at him coldly.
"This is Lancaster Corporation, not your slum. If you dare touch a single hair on my head, I'll make sure you come in standing and leave horizontal."
At the door, four security guards walked in expressionlessly.
Kai's hand froze mid-air, finally lowering it with hatred.
He was an extremely sensible person. Or rather, extremely cowardly.
"Fine. Very well."
He ground his teeth.
"Lena, don't regret this. Without me, that core project won't move forward at all! The entire technical team are my people. By driving me away, you're cutting off your own arm!"
"You want to take the team?"
I raised an eyebrow, not only unworried but actually wanting to laugh.
"Then take them. A bunch of useless people-keeping them is just a waste of food."
Kai's expression changed.
"What did you say? That's an industry-leading team!"
"Leading?"
I threw a stack of documents from my drawer.
"You mean this group of 'elite talent' who take the company's high salaries while secretly helping you sell core code to competing companies?"
The documents contained evidence of his and the team's private transactions.
Kai's pupils dilated violently.
He panicked.
"You... how do you have these..."
"If you don't want people to know, don't do it."
I sat back in my chair and looked at him.
"Kai, you really think you're so clever? In my eyes, your little tricks are as clumsy as a clown's."
Lena POV
Kai was dragged out by security like a dead dog.
But people like him can't be killed off completely.
That afternoon, Serena came.
She wore a black dress, no makeup, her face pale. She looked like a little white flower swaying in wind and rain, her fragility maxed out.
But as soon as she opened her mouth, that nauseating arrogant air spilled out.
"Lena, we need to talk."
She sat across from me, spine straight, as if she were the victor.
"I know you hate me. I admit that what happened last night was my fault. But I love Kai, and Kai loves me. Love doesn't follow first-come-first-served rules."
"If you want money, I can pay you back. But I hope you won't use those dirty methods to destroy Kai's future."
She pulled out a bank card from her bag and placed it on the table.
"There's five hundred thousand dollars here. I saved it by selling paintings. I'll slowly pay back the rest."
Five hundred thousand dollars.
To repay fifteen million dollars in debt.
And she was putting on this "I've done my best, don't be ungrateful" attitude.
She made me laugh with anger.
"Serena, do you think the whole world is your mother and has to indulge you?"
I?picked up the card, held it between two fingers, and bent it lightly.
Snap.
The card broke.
"Your paintings? The ones that hung in galleries for three years with no buyers, don't you know who bought them at high prices?"
I leaned forward, staring into her eyes.
"It was Kai. Using my money to buy your garbage, then praising you as a genius."
"Your so-called nobility, your so-called talent, all of it was built with my family's money!"
Serena's face flushed bright red, like she'd been slapped hard.
"You're lying! My talent doesn't need anyone's validation!"
She shot up, her voice shrill.
"Someone like you, who only knows money, what do you know about art? You're just jealous of me!"
"Jealous of you?"
I turned on the projector.
Photos and receipts jumped onto the screen.
All evidence of Kai's embezzlement. Every transaction clearly pointed to Serena's account, or became the designer brands she wore, the paintbrushes in her hands, even the luxury apartment she lived in.
"Jealous that you spend a man's money while pretending to be noble? Jealous that you're a mistress while pretending to be innocent?"
"Serena, to fill these holes, Kai has already sold company secrets to competitors. This is serious commercial crime."
"And you, as the main beneficiary of the stolen money, you can't escape either."
Hearing the word "crime," Serena finally panicked.
Her facade of cool elegance instantly collapsed.
"No... impossible... Kai wouldn't do that..."
"Whether he would or not, you'll find out soon enough."
I pressed the intercom.
"Let the officers from the Economic Investigation Division come in."
The office door opened, and two uniformed police officers walked in.
"Miss Serena? You're involved in a case of large-scale embezzlement and money laundering. Please come with us."
Serena was so scared her legs went weak. She clutched the table corner, refusing to leave.
"No! I didn't! That was Kai's gift to me! I didn't know it was embezzled funds! I'm innocent!"
She looked at me, fear and pleading finally in her eyes.
"Lena! Lena, help me! I was deceived! Kai deceived me! I'm a victim!"
Look, this is true love.
When disaster struck, she sold out Kai without hesitation.
I smiled at her, my eyes ice cold.
"Miss Serena, save that energy to explain to the judge. See if your nobility can be used as a bargaining chip for a reduced sentence."
Watching Serena being led away, I picked up my phone and sent a message to Kai, who was still running around trying to bail her out.
"Your goddess says she's a victim and was forced by you. Kai, good luck."
After sending it, I blocked the number.
Lena POV
My assistant told me that when Kai saw that message, he was on the elevated highway to the airport.
His hand shook like he had Parkinson's. His phone dropped onto the floor mat.
"Stop the car! Turn around! I need to go back!"
He grabbed the driver's steering wheel like a madman.
"That bitch dares to betray me! I'm going to kill her!"
The driver slammed the brakes in fright. The car left a screeching brake mark in the middle of the road.
"Mr. Walsh, calm down! There are police cars behind us. Turning around now is walking into a trap!"
"I don't believe it! Serena wouldn't do this to me! That crazy woman Lena must be bluffing me!"
Kai's eyes were bloodshot. He was about to make more trouble when several police cars with flashing lights roared up and surrounded the Maybach front and back.
"Kai Walsh, get out of the car!"
A stern warning came through the loudspeaker.
Kai froze.
Through the car window, he looked at those fully armed special police officers and finally realized his dream of wealth had shattered.
As he was pressed against the scorching hot hood and handcuffed, he was still roaring.
"I was framed! I want to see Lena! I'm a hero to the company-she can't treat me like this!"
The police officer coldly tightened the handcuffs.
"Save it for the judge."
At the same time, in the interrogation room.
Serena was curled up in her chair, crying her eyes out.
"I really didn't know anything... Kai said it was money he earned, that it was allowance he gave me... I just paint, I don't understand business matters..."
"He said he loved me and wanted to give me the best life. How was I supposed to know it was stolen money?"
She had completely cleared herself.
That cold, proud woman didn't just lose her backbone. She lost all shame too.
As long as she could avoid prison, she wouldn't just sell out Kai. She'd call him her grandson if she had to.
I sat in the monitoring room, watching the scene on the screen. I didn't feel satisfied. I felt pathetic.
This was the woman Kai treasured like a gem.
This was the "true love" for whom he was willing to kill my entire family.
What cheap love.
I sneered.
I still had one more gift for this cheap pair of bastards.
